Ara Tūhono Trust

We want to help Hōkai Nuku

members be independent,

healthy and connected.

Hōkai Nuku values education as an essential tool in the on-going development of Ngāti Manuhiri, Ngāti Whātua, Ngāti Rango and Ngati Kauae/Mauku of Te Uri o Hau.

Hōkai Huku, along with our Ara Tūhono project partners NZTA and NX2, have established the Ara Tūhono Trust to distribute education grants for students at tertiary institutions across New Zealand.

Our aim is to create opportunities for Hōkai Nuku members to access and succeed at higher learning.

Education grants may be awarded to assist with tuition fees or study costs. Courses with no tuition fees attached or first year students who are eligible for ‘fees-free’ are not eligible for a grant to cover fees.
Education grants may be awarded to students who are registered members of;
  • Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust
  • Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua
  • Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust
  • Te Uri o Hāu Settlement Trust

The Summer 2019 grant round is now closed.

Applicants who apply for the 2018- 2019 summer grant round will also be  considered for summer work with NX2 on the Ara Tūhono, Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway.
